ABIDING IN HIS REST
We are delighted to have in the church today all brethren who recently join us in Jesus House. The Lord who ordered your steps to Saskatoon will surely prosper you in the land, for the earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it.
Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
Jesus’ invitation into His marvelous light is a call into the rest that He alone can give. Rest from weary and heavy burdens; rest from struggles, battles, and wars. All that is required is total surrender to Him. For a believer to operate from the place of this rest, he must walk in His will and in all His ways. It is written concerning King Asa:
And he built fortified cities in Judah, for the land had rest; he had no war in those years, because the Lord had given him rest. Therefore he said to Judah, “Let us build these cities and make walls around them, and towers, gates, and bars, while the land is yet before us, because we have sought the Lord our God; we have sought Him, and He has given us rest on every side.” So they built and prospered. 2 Chronicles 14:6-7.
God gave King Asa and his people rest from every side because they did that which was good in His sight. The Lord wants us to operate from a place of rest in this land but requires that we should give Him the right of place in our lives. Micah wrote: For all people walk each in the name of his god, But we will walk in the name of the LORD our God Forever and ever (Micah 4:5). We all need the same mindset, which will usher us into His rest.
