FOREWORD FOR THE WEEK: 18 October 2020

AM I CLOTHED FOR THE LAMB’S WEDDING FEAST?

TEXT: REV. 3:17-19, MATT 22:11-13, PSALM 8:1-9

We have established last week two important dimensions to being created for his glory: (1) God manifesting his glory in us (2) We are to bring him glory in all we do. Today’s text Rev 3:17-19 raises a question. Could it be possible that some of us could be deceived as to the condition of our spiritual garment? In Matt 22:11-13 we read of someone who was not on the original guest list, but made it to the wedding anyway and forgot about or somehow does not value the invitation, he showed up in what can best be described as a work garment to a celebration.

Psalm 8 reveals how the Almighty God has CROWNED Man with GLORY and honor (v.5) that was lost due to sin. Whoever or whatever is devoid of glory is naked; a spiritual state called “ICHABOD” – “the glory is departed” (1Sam.4:21). In Christ, clothed in his glory Ichabod is reversed. “I will rejoice greatly in the LORD, my soul will exult in my God; for He has clothed me with garments of salvation, He has covered me with a robe of righteousness.”  Isaiah 61:10. Revelation 16:15 says, “Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed [is] he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.”

You can tell a lot about people from the clothes they wear. The clothes that we choose to wear often reflect our status, our values, and even our priorities. Going by the same thought process, if you are clothed in glory, it should be evident when people see you. You have a part to play to be clothed in glory and be prepared for the lamb’s wedding feast.

  1. Look for the Glory – “But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God.” –Acts 7:55, NKJV. What you are not seeking, do not be surprised if you do not get it. Are you hungry for his glory? Just like anything in the kingdom of God, it takes faith to see a manifestation.
  2. Pray for the Glory – “For I consider the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” –Rom 8:18, NKJV. Pray that the glory will be revealed to you and in you. You can see and experience the glory of God, but you must diligently ask and seek for it to be revealed. When Moses saw the glory of God, he asked, saying, “Please, show me Your glory” (Ex 33:18, NKJV).
  3. Prepare for the Glory – “…the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.” –Rom 5:5, NKJV There are degrees of the glory. If you want to experience the fullness of God’s glory, you must prepare your spirit and make room.
  4. Walk in the Glory – “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.” –2 Cor 3:18, NKJV The glory of the Lord is not for show or window dressing. It is not to be “acquired and displayed”, it is for impact. It is to glorify HIM. It is one thing to have the glory, but it is another to know how to walk in it. Acts 2:47

Have a blessed week.
