THE LORD MY REDEEMER (ISAIAH 43:1B)
I welcome you very warmly to this beautiful month of August, the 8th month of the year, our month of THE LORD, MY REDEEMER. Our anchor scripture is taken from the book of Isaiah 43:1b … Fear not; for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine. Last month, the Lord gave us grace to stand perfect and complete in Jesus Christ and now this month, the Lord is assuring us that He is our Redeemer. Is that not wonderful? What a Great and Mighty God we have: THE LORD, MY REDEEMER!
What does it mean to redeem? To redeem means to buy back, regain possession of, or exchange for money, goods etc. So, who is the redeemer and who is the redeemed and who or what were we redeemed from? Jesus Christ is the REDEEMER and we, the believers, are the redeemed and we were redeemed from sin and sickness and from the power of Satan. The price for our redemption is not money, neither is it silver or gold but the precious blood of Jesus Christ, for He died for us. Romans 5:8 tells us that “But God commendeth His love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us”. We were lost in sin and God sent Jesus Christ His son to come and die for our redemption. The popular scripture, John 3:16 tells us that God sent His Son Jesus Christ to redeem the whole world from the power of sin and hell through His death. Therefore sin, sickness and Satan have no more power over us. Jesus died to redeem us out of darkness and to translate us into His marvellous light. So now, we are a Royal Priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people who should always show forth the praises of our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Peter 2:9).
Now, having this knowledge that Christ is our Redeemer and that He has redeemed us from every power of Satan for He declared in Matthew 28:18 – “ALL Power is give unto me in heaven and in earth”, we should therefore live in DOMINION and GRATITUDE, exercising this authority over Satan and all his agents, including sin and sickness. We do not need to harbour any iota of fear any longer for Satan has been roundly defeated. Colossians 2:15 tells us: having spoiled principalities and power, he made a shew of them OPENLY, triumphing over them in it.
Therefore, regardless of whatever situation you find yourself, you should be confident in this truth: that Jesus has paid the price through His blood. Revelations 12:11a says “and they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb…” No wonder Job declared in Job 19:25, I know my Redeemer lives. Child of God go forth in this month and exercise your authority knowing that THE LORD, MY REDEEMER is with you and He has won the victory for you.
Shalom.
