FEAR NOT FOR THE LORD WILL DEFEND YOU
We often face life challenges and battles, some of which could be insurmountable if we operate in the power of the flesh. The Bible makes it clear in 1 Sam. 2:9-10: “The Lord will guard the feet of His saints, but the wicked shall be silent in darkness for by strength no man shall prevail. The adversaries of the Lord shall be broken in pieces; from heaven He will thunder against them”. Based on this Scripture, it is clear that when you are in right standing with God, every wicked that rises against you automatically becomes the enemy of God. The Lord will thunder against them and silence them. Brethren, there is no need to fear because the Lord is your defense, and He will fight you. No matter how hard the wicked may fight against you, you will prevail because the Lord will defend you. If you can only trust Him and live right, the Lord will maintain your right and your cause. That opposition against your progress or destiny will soon crumble. You will not suffer defeat. Fear not!
But I will sing of Your power; Yes, I will sing aloud of Your mercy in the morning; For You have been my defense And refuge in the day of my trouble. To You, O my Strength, I will sing praises; For God is my defense, My God of mercy (Ps. 59:16-17)
Because the Lord is our defense, we cannot be afraid of evil; He will defend us against every evil (Ps 23:4, Ps 91:10-11, Ps 121:7). You should not fear defeat by the wicked for the Lord will fight for you (Ps 27:1-5, Is 41:10-16). You should not fear the powers of Satan or his agents, for we sit in Christ Jesus far above principalities and powers (Eph. 1:15-21 & 2:4-6). His name is our defense (Phil 2:8-11). You will not be put to shame (Is 54:4). So fear not (Is 41:14). The experience and the power of Goliath amounted to nothing before David, who had God as his defense; he did not depend on the arm of the flesh. Zech. 2:18 reads: “In that day the Lord will defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem; the one who is feeble among them in that day shall be like David…”. When you have God as your defense you must remember to (1) pray ceaselessly and surrender every battle to him – Ps 18, 58, 59, (2) Praise Him at all times with the assurance of victory – Ps 9:1-3, (3) trust in Him and do not rest on the arm of the flesh – Ps 20:7-8 and (4) most importantly, make seeking and pleasing God a priority. These are non-negotiable. Have a blessed Sunday.
